This month’s edition of “Gizmos & Gadgets” includes a bear fencing kit, a precision field sprayer, a bee insight platform and a solar-powered cattle feeder.

Electric fence for bears

Gallagher’s Bear Protection Fencing Kit allows users to spend time in bear country while reducing the risk and dangers of passing wildlife. Minimize unwanted conflict with bears and keep safe while sharing the environment bears roam.

Bears are known for being curious, exploratory, and destructive in their search for food. No traditional barrier will hold them back. Gallagher adapted proven electric-fencing solutions to provide peace-of-mind protection against unwanted interactions with bears.

Bear Protection

The bear kit includes everything needed to construct the fence:

  • 10 rope adjuster clips;
  • 5 guy ropes, including pegs;
  • 6 step-in fiberglass posts c/w clips;
  • 1 small reel;
  • 1 lead connector multi;
  • 1 3-foot (ft.) ground rod;
  • 4 warning flags;
  • 656 ft. turbo wire;
  • 1 fence voltage indicator; and
  • 1 orange carry bag.

Energizer sold separately. Recommended:

  • S20 Lithium (G350404);
  • S100 (G346404);
  • B60 (G388404); or
  • MB150 (G388414).

Precision field sprayer

Powered by Ecorobotix’s AI (artificial intelligence)-driven precision spraying technology, the ARA Field Sprayer dramatically reduces the use of plant protection products and fertilizers, cutting inputs by up to 95%. This innovative solution helps farmers minimize manual labor, maximize operational efficiency and agricultural profitability.

Ecorobotix

ARA supports sustainable farming practices, helping growers meet regulatory standards and optimize yields. Operate day or night with minimal manual intervention, reducing labor costs and increasing efficiency. Payback is in roughly two to four years, thanks to lower equipment costs compared to competitors.

Bee monitoring platform

BeeHero’s Pollination Insight Platform (PIP) measures bee activity in crops. This innovative platform provides users with crucial knowledge of how many bees are actually pollinating the crop and additional actionable data to make real-time decisions that influence crop yield.

Redesigned to withstand the rigors of the field, the new sensor boasts a larger enclosure to deliver improved battery life. It features a custom algorithm precisely tuned to detect the bees’ flight audio signature.

BeeHeroo

Accurate information about forage rates allows for real-time responses. Users can see actual pollinator visits on the flower, the efficiency of the pollination process, and data on the degree to which synchronized bloom has occurred, all in real time.

Solar-powered cattle feeder

The Expandable Hanen Automatic Solar-Powered Livestock Feeder provides programmable timed nutrition of various free-flowing feed types to livestock, up to 12 daily feedings. Hanen’s patented Hydraulically Powered Feed Dispensing System uses fewer moving parts for less maintenance.

Hanen

Automatic feeding is convenient and saves time. Livestock summoned by audio feeding signals arrive at the feeder in an orderly fashion.

Key features include:

  • Feeder capacity — two troughs feed multiple head of livestock at a time.
  • Durability — constructed from durable, heavy-duty, 7-16 gauge steel, with a 100% powder-coated finish inside and out.
  • Programmable — timed nutrition amounts, feeding up to 12 daily feedings.
  • Solar-powered feeder— 100-watt solar-powered system with MPPT solar controller.
  • Portable — can be moved by forks, using the pockets beneath the feeder or hopper.
  • Expandable — connect additional hoppers to accommodate herd growth.

The Expandable Hanen Automatic Solar-Powered Livestock Feeder comes in two sizes: Boss (10 ft. wide x 5 ft. high x 4 ft. deep) and Wrangler (6 ft. wide x 5 ft. high x 4 ft. deep).
