This month’s column features a new lime and fertilizer spreader, an upgraded two-rider ATV lineup, an FDA-approved methane-reducing feed ingredient, and a GPS guidance system for older equipment.
Expanded ground-driven lime and fertilizer spreaders
Stoltzfus Spreaders, which introduced the wet lime spreader in 1976, has added a 10-ton version (CU-100) to its Redhawk™ ground-driven line of multiuse agricultural spreaders. The line includes 4-, 5- and 8-ton models.
The new 10-ton Stoltzfus ground-driven lime spreader has a 212-cubic-foot hopper. The 53° side slopes, 24-inch (in.) carbon steel slat-style drag chain and engineered drop pan work in combination to prevent bridging, allowing consistent material flow for true multipurpose spreading.
The Stoltzfus CU-100 has the industry’s only fully welded unibody construction. Its heavy-duty structural tube steel frame and rugged walking beam suspension easily handles stresses from 10-ton loads. The large 21.5L 14-ply tires offer high flotation and smooth rolling on rough terrain.
The dual-contact press wheel, hydraulically raised and lowered, delivers the power to break out packed damp lime loads. Hydraulically powered twin 24-in., 7-gauge steel spinners are top-driven, isolating the drives from corrosive chemicals and the shock of material pounding on their disks.

Methane-reducing feed ingredient
Elanco Animal Health Inc. has announced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has completed its comprehensive, multiyear review of Bovaer® (3-NOP), a first-in-class methane-reducing feed ingredient, and determined the product meets safety and efficacy requirements for use in lactating dairy cattle.
Bovaer works by suppressing the enzyme in the cow’s rumen that forms methane. Feeding 1 tablespoon of Bovaer per lactating dairy cow per day can reduce methane emissions about 30%, or about 1.2 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions annually, while creating opportunity for dairy farmers to be financially rewarded for reducing their dairy’s carbon footprint.
Feeding 1 million cows Bovaer would reduce emissions equivalent to removing more than 285,000 cars from the road for a year. Feeding Bovaer to cattle has proven to be safe for animals, producers and consumers.

Maximizing field potential with a new guidance solution
Case IH dealers now offer a precision technology kit perfect for older-model equipment that is not currently equipped with guidance and steering technology. The Case IH Pro 1200 Guidance Kit includes the right tools to help farmers reach their operational goals, like whole-farm connectivity, higher potential return on investment and greater efficiency.
Customers with mixed fleets of equipment may select the Raven CRx Guidance Kit for their operation. Combining a CR7 or CR12 display with electric or hydraulic steering options provides multibrand equipment owners with an option that is easy to install and transfer from cab to cab.
The displays are the foundation of the Case IH and Raven Guidance Kits. For the Case IH Pro 1200 Guidance Kit, the Pro 1200 display provides a consistent and modern display experience for the user. Paired with the Vector Pro receiver and either a hydraulic or electric steering unit, this setup offers a seamless integration of precision farming technology. The Raven CRx Guidance Kit offers CR7 or CR12 displays, both designed for simple operation, paired with robust 500S or RS1 receivers.
