“Keep the nutrition level good enough to express their differences, but not high enough to mask their differences, then use the ones that sort to the top. The cattle that will make money for our customers will be the ones that get closest to ‘doing everything right,’” says Ben Eggers, herd manager of Sydenstricker Genetics, Mexico, Mo.

The cow herd grazes rotationally without grain supplementation to ensure cattle are ready to work for their customers’ operations. They are hardy and adaptable due to the high humidity and fescue-based pastures.

The Sydenstricker team is deeply committed to research and data collection. Each year, they submit more than 12,000 weights and measurements to the Angus Herd Improvement Records (AHIR®) system.

Their next production sale is Nov. 22, 2025. Their SydGen Influence Sale, including guest consignors of bulls and females, is April 15, 2025.
