AMERICAN ANGUS ASSOCIATION - THE BUSINESS BREED

NEXT GENERATION

Immersed in Opportunity

The NJAA allows juniors to grow.

As a young junior starting off with the National Junior Angus Association (NJAA), I quickly realized the great opportunities the Association had to offer and was instantly hooked. Following my first National Junior Angus Show (NJAS) in 2013, I knew I was going to get involved in the organization in any way I could.

As a newer member, I was nervous and intimidated by many different experiences. However, each year I was encouraged by those around me to step out of my comfort zone and get involved in each aspect of the NJAA.

When I became old enough to venture into various leadership roles within the NJAA, I often doubted myself. I contemplated whether to put myself out there or not. With the support from family and friends, I decided to make the most of the opportunities. The mindset of making the most of any experience has sparked a passion within in me to inspire others to do the same.

If I had not made the choice to put myself out into the NJAA and experience all that it has to offer, I would have missed out on some of the best years of my life. Serving on the NJAA Board of Directors and as the 2023 Miss American Angus would not have been possible without this mindset.

With each experience you venture into, immerse yourself into the opportunity and make the most of it. Having this thought process has not only been beneficial for me within the NJAA, but within my personal life. It has pushed me with my college experience, my career and with my relationships. Through the leadership qualities, knowledge and connections I gained, I am now prepared for the opportunities that lay ahead.

The NJAA provides a multitude of opportunities such as shows, conferences and contests for juniors to get involved in. I encourage each of you to step outside of your comfort zone, whether it is participating in a contest at NJAS or signing up for the Leaders Engaged in Angus Development (LEAD) conference. Each opportunity you take is a chance to learn, grow and create relationships. These will be the most impactful years of your youth.

As I now wear the green jacket, I feel called to encourage each junior to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the NJAA and within their day-to-day life to make the most of it!
