Jack Dameron, Chairman

“Looking back now, I personally wish I had taken on even more contests and activities,” Dameron says as he looks back on his green coat years.

As a member of the Illinois Junior Angus Association, he found many opportunities to grow as a showman and individual. Those are experiences he encourages other juniors to never take for granted.

“I can’t stress enough how impactful being involved in this Association can be and how it has set my own self up for success,” Dameron adds.

Lauren Gilbert, Vice Chairman

When it comes to her time serving her peers, Gilbert says there’s nothing better than the connections forged with other National Junior Angus Association (NJAA) members.

“Building friendships with those who share the same love for Angus cattle and who have a passion for continuing the farming and ranching lifestyle has been a rewarding part of the NJAB,” the Missourian explains. “I am excited to have been able to have met so many incredibly young cattle breeders who will carry on the Angus legacy in the future.”

Avery Mather, Secretary

“No matter what you’re doing, you’re always leaving an impact on people,” Mather says.

The Iowa resident encourages juniors to stay present and enjoy the moment. Green coat or not, there’s always someone looking up to you.

“Whether you want to run for the board, do run for the board or get on the board, you’re making an impact in some way, shape or form on the Association and the people around you,” Mather explains. “Try to make that a positive one.”

Colter Pohlman, Foundation Director

The lone star state is home, but Pohlman says it’s the National Junior Angus Show (NJAS) and it’s rotating locations that actually have created some of his favorite memories. He’s been attending the NJAS since he was just three months old.

He might not remember much from his initial trip, but through the years, activities and events have certainly left their mark on him.

“I feel like this Association played an important role in raising me,” he explains. “Serving on the NJAB has been a rewarding experience to give back and encourage other juniors growing up in this great Association.”

Lani LeBeouf, Events Director

“Jump in, full force, both feet. In whatever you do.”

This Louisiana gal encourages juniors to set aside their fears and always shoot for the stars. While every risk might not end in reward, she says that’s part of the journey.

“You’re not always going to be the Olympic world champion,” LeBeouf admits with a laugh. “You’re going to fail at things. Just do your best. Go at it with your whole heart.”
