Halverson found his love for agriculture at an early age in Minnesota’s Red River Valley. After attending the University of Minnesota for a year, he returned to the family farm in Baker, Minn.

He joined the American Angus Association and Minnesota Angus Association in 1973, serving as a board member in Minnesota for 27 years. He also represented the state as a delegate to the American Angus Association Annual Meeting.

In 2002, Halverson was recognized as the Minnesota State Angus Person of the Year. He and his family have hosted many field days at their farm, and have helped establish many new breeders during their years in the Angus business.
